October 2023 1st Day on the Road
Hi, this was the first night of the trip. I was not sure how long it would take to get on the road so I stayed in a hotel in Billings, MT. This was the 1st of many things. I had never lived in an RV before moving in to this one. She is very comfortable but comes with a learning curve. This trip will have lots of new things. I will see new things, meet new people, and have new experiences. I will share about those and about learning to live in a travel with an RV.

First Night at a Harvest Host – The Hubb
I started my time in Arizona headed to Sedona. I was lucky enough to find the perfect one-night stay in Pahrump, NV on my way. This was my 1st stay at a harvest host site. I enjoyed the experience greatly. I picked The Hubb as my first stop. It was a little drive off the main highway, but I loved the idea of staying at a bar restaurant. I wouldn’t have to unhook.
As I pulled up, people came out to greet me and give me options on where to park. One option included water hookup but would mean backing between two objects. It was near the bar and added a bit of security so of course I chose this one. It also gave me a bit more practice time. It went better than anticipated and I was set up with water in no time.
If you are not familiar with Harvest Hosts, it is a membership site that is inexpensive and gives you access to many different places to stay overnight at no additional cost. In my experience, most of the places are wineries, breweries, golf courses, farms and rural bars. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Look at their site for a better description and pricing.
Anyway, I went into the bar and grill for something to eat. I spent a couple of hours having some dinner and drinks while visiting with the bartender and locals. I got some great tips on things to do and places to see when I get back in the area. The conversation was great and really put Pahrump on my list to come back to visit.
I wandered back out to the RV and enjoyed the view of the desert. The business at the bar picked up but it was never too loud. I spent a relaxing night and woke early. It was nice to watch the sun come up. I got on my way early and will definitely be back.
This stop was a great reminder that trying something new while sometimes intimidating can be fantastic. I found out about places that I would not have thought to go see. I had great food, drinks and conversation. I always enjoy hearing people’s stories. I find them fascinating. Having said that, I feel I also need to say that you have to pay attention to your gut feelings. As a woman traveling alone, I pay attention to my gut. I have driven by or pulled out of places that do not feel safe. In this case I felt safe and was. It was a great stop.
